The Necromancer brings many friends to the party in Diablo 4, and they can be the stars of the show with a solid build investment. Or, perhaps more accurately, Necromancers can grand total of nine types of minions and make them take on tank, healing, and damage roles with lethal results. But which one of them is the best? Let’s find out.

1. Blood Golem

Specialty: Drains life from nearby enemies to heal itself.
Option 1: Absorb 15% of the damage that you would take.
Option 2: While healthy, the Blood Golem gains +25% damage reduction and +50% increased damage.

With the above said, the Blood Golem is the best Necromancer minion in Diablo 4. Despite not being a tank per se, the Blood Golem is harder to kill than other minions and can mitigate a portion of the damage taken by the Necromancer. In addition, it can heal itself while also dealing a fair amount of damage to enemies in the process. This minion is truly a beast and integral to most of the best Necromancer builds.

2. Iron Golem

Specialty: Does an AoE ground slam that can stun enemies.
Option 1: Every fifth ground slam causes a shockwave that deals damage to surrounding enemies.
Option 2: The slam attack also makes enemies vulnerable for three seconds.
Sacrifice: +30% critical strike damage; unable to summon Golems.

Iron is the best Golem variant to pick if you’re going for a heavy CC build. This variant has a special ability to slam the ground and Stun enemies in a pretty large radius. In addition, you can take it to the next level to achieve full control. But even without any extra help, the Iron Golem is extremely handy in combat. The Sacrifice bonus is also enticing, thanks to the massive critical strike damage boost. Unfortunately, roaming around without a Golem can be very risky.

3. Bone Golem

    Specialty: Taunts and tanks enemies.
Option 1: Shed a corpse each time the Bone Golem takes up to 20% of its maximum life in damage.
Option 2: +10% maximum life; inherits 50% of your Thorns value.
Sacrifice: +10% attack speed; unable to summon Golems.

While a lot of enemies tend to ignore minions and go straight for the Necromancer, that’s unlikely to happen while a Bone Golem is accompanying you. Unlike Defenders, Bone Golems come with a special ability that allows them to taunt enemies. In other words, this is your go-to tank while playing as Necromancer in Diablo 4.

4. Skeletal Cold Mages

    Specialty: Control and freeze enemies.
Option 1: Each time a Cold Mage damages an enemy with their primary attack, you gain two Essence.
Option 2: Enemies who are Frozen by or damaged while Frozen by a Cold Mage are made Vulnerable for four seconds.
Sacrifice: +15% damage increased; unable to summon Skeletal Cold Mages.

Cold Mages are easily one of the most popular summons of the Necromancer class right now in Diablo 4. These units give you a ton of crowd control and increase your survival chances by slowing and pinning down enemies. Enemies attacked by Cold Skeletal Mages will be “chilled, “meaning they will be sapped of their mobility and attack speed. If you’ve ever been frozen solid by an enemy in the middle of combat, you know just how crippling and annoying it can be. Thanks to Cold Mages, you can be the one doing the freezing for a change.

5. Skeletal Reaper Warriors

Specialty: Provide you with high-windup attacks.
Option 1: Receive a 2-second increase in cooldown for attacking immobilized, slowed, stunned, or vulnerable enemies.
Option 2: Gain a 15% chance of attacking the enemy and turning them into corpses.
Sacrifice: You receive an additional 15% Shadow Damage but at the expense of being unable to raise a Skirmisher.

Reapers are easily the best Skeletal Warrior variant and work well with pretty much any build, thanks to their special wind-up attack that deals heavy damage. The bad news is that this attack can only occur once every 10 seconds. The good news is that there are no downsides to using Reapers over Skirmishers or Defenders. While the other two variants can come in handy in specific situations, Reapers are always a solid choice.

That is everything you need to know about the best necromancer minion in Diablo 4. In conclusion, they are a powerful addition to any Necromancer’s army. They can provide additional support in battles, increase your chances of survival, and take down enemies efficiently. So get out there and start summoning those minions!
