Transparent cement is a newly developed type of cement that allows light to pass through it, giving structures made with it a luminous, glass-like quality. This innovative material has the potential to transform construction and architecture.

Composition and Manufacturing

Transparent Cement is produced through a specialized manufacturing process that modifies the chemical composition and microstructure of ordinary Portland cement. Ordinary cement is made by heating limestone and clay at high temperatures to form clinker, which is then ground into a fine powder and mixed with water.

In transparent cement production, additional compounds are introduced during the clinkerization stage to manipulate the cement’s crystalline structure at the nanoscale level. Specifically, the addition of lithium compounds helps disrupt the uniform size and packing of cement grains. This creates nano-scale pores within the hardened cement paste that allow light transmission without significantly compromising the material’s strength.
