How Wireless Charging Works


Wireless Charging works through the principles of electromagnetic induction and resonant magnetic field coupling. An electromagnetic field is generated within the charging surface or mat using transmitting coils. When a device with a compatible receiving coil is placed on the charging surface, magnetic field coupling occurs between the coils which causes current to flow within the receiving coil. This transfers energy from the transmitting coils to the receiving coils and charges the battery without any physical connections. The receiving coil must match the transmitting coil's resonant frequency for efficient power transfer. Wireless charging delivers power at close range, typically requiring devices to be in direct contact or within a couple inches of the charging surface.
