Runes that are single can be dropped anywhere within Diablo 2: Resurrected, starting with Normal difficulty, and D2R Items progressing all the way to Hell difficulty. Runes can be socketed, as gems are, so they can be put into equipment that is socketed to take advantage of their effects. However, the real magic of runes comes when you combine them in a certain order inside a specific item. The runewords, which they're also called, are some of the most useful items you can find in the game, right above set items and uniques. A complete list of all runewords can be found in the next section.

Runes can also be utilized in specific Horadric Cube recipes. For example, you can combine runes with Ral rune along with damaged equipment to repair it. This is a fantastic option in times when you're running low on gold, and you can't make the repairs from a seller. Runes are also able to be put together using the Horadric Cube; this is popularly referred to "cubing in" and is an effective method to gain access to the next level of rune without having to search on the open market. If, for instance, you are carrying three El runes but need an Eld rune, put three El runes into the Cube and then press the transmute button. The result will be an Eld rune. This recipe for upgrading is available in the rune charts below.

The Hellforge quest found in Act 4 will always drop some runes. It is usually used as a payment for the speed of the act. The Countess, located at the lower part of the Forgotten Tower in Act 1's Black Marsh, is another fantastic source for runes.Because they have a certain rarity moving from the most frequent (El) through to the most rare (Zod) In most cases, they're utilized as an economic tool in Diablo 2. El to Lem are typically considered low runes. Pul up to Gul are generally considered to be mid runes, and Vex through Zod are usually considered high runes. If you discover mid or high runes in your travels, make sure to buy diablo 2 resurrected items not part with the runes without hesitation!
